The Beauty of our Dreams
Some of the greatest experiences in my life have been while watching young people pursue their dreams. We begin dreaming from a very young age. In fact, I recently watched my newborn nephew sleep the other day and it was evident that the little guy was dreaming. He would smile real big in his sleep, move his little eyelids and then return to a normal state of sleeping blissfully. It was joyous to watch him dreaming so early on in life. I wondered what he could be thinking about, dreaming of, wishing for? Watching him sleep and dream got me to thinking about the beautiful God given gift of being a dreamer.
Since we start dreaming early on in life, by the time we become adults, we have had years to really formulate our dreams, hope and aspirations into goals that become reality. Dreaming is the first step on the spectrum of moving towards becoming what God wants and desires for us to be. I remember the Lord igniting a spark in me from a very early age to become a teacher. I played class with the neighborhood kids who had an old school desk in their game room. We would take turns teaching, grading papers, handing out stickers and bossing each other around. I didn’t know it then, but this was the first of my dreaming of one day becoming the real thing. I knew that my calling was to teach in some capacity.
Later on in life, I could recall a time when I felt the Lord speak to my heart and tell me that I was going to do something big someday. Back then I didn’t know what He was referring to and years later, I now understand that He has called me to write with the hopes of some day authoring a book. Having big dreams for yourself allows the Lord to do mighty things through you.
Time and time again, I have seen the Lord do beautiful things through those dream. So, if you want to be in the midst of beauty, be a true to the heart dreamer. Eleanor Roosevelt said “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” The Lord gave us our ability to dream. So we should appreciate the gift of being able to and daily allow the Lord to work out our dreams in us and His dreams for us, through us.
Forever Hopeful. Always Dreaming,
