Welcome! Each day during the month of October I am writing on the topic of discovering true beauty. Please join in with me on this journey. Also, please feel free to share these posts during the month of October with family and friends on the many social media outlets. I appreciate you taking the time to do so.
One of my absolute favorite verses from the Bible has always been James 1:17. In fact, it was one of the first Scriptures I memorized besides John 3:16 when I became a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. James 1:17 Says – “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” While studying this particular verse in the book of James, I came across the following in the NIV Application Commentary: “What is it that God sends us? James answers that God gives good gifts/talents, as we have already seen in his gift of wisdom (1:5).”
For many years before I put my faith in Jesus, I thought that I was the one who learned and developed the talents I had. I didn’t realize that my gifts were given to me by my Creator. I also didn’t understand how I was called to use the gifts and just went about life as if I was the one who created, worked hard for and carried out my gifting. As I matured, I realized the arrogance and pride in what I had believed for so long. My gifts were from above and the Lord was the One who ignited a passion in me for teaching, writing and leading. Not the other way around.
After becoming a believer, I started trying to accomplish things on my own like I always thought that I had and it was then that the Lord taught me the very important lesson that it was never me in the first place. The Lord consistently showed me for a period of time that I could do nothing a part from Him. I couldn’t even get out of bed without Him waking me up. I am thankful for this important lesson that He taught me.
My gifts and talents are on loan from God and they are to be used for His purpose and His glory. He is the Master Planner, the Grand Artist and I am to follow His lead. He takes the gifting that He has given me and makes out of it what He please. I must admit, He does a much better job with me than I can do with myself. So I trust Him for the good gifts He gives.
Throughout the month, I have been blessed to share some of Lindsey’s Art in my posts for the #write31days challenge. My theme for the month has been 31 Days To Discovering True Beauty and Lindsey’s Art is a beautiful example of someone using their God given gifts and talents to bring glory to the ONE who gave her the obvious gifting that she has. Please see some of her beautiful Artwork below:
About the Artist: Lindsey Keith is a 16 year old Junior who LOVES God, her family, dance, Art and horses. Lindsey can be found doing the typical teenage stuff like volunteering or babysitting when she is not creating beautiful Art. She volunteers at church and a therapeutic horse ranch. She is honored to have achieved being on the California Scholarship Federation each semester of her high school career and has received straight A’s during her schooling adventures. Lindsey’s goal at this point in her life is to receive scholarships to be able to attend a Christian University after graduating High School. Her talent on loan from God is exuberant in extraordinary ways. I absolutely love that she finds time to create beauty right where she is. Way to go Lindsey!
Blessed to See People Using Their God-Given Gifts and Talents,
