Welcome! Each day during the month of October I am writing on the topic of discovering true beauty. Please join in with me on this journey. Also, please feel free to share these posts during the month of October with family and friends on the many social media outlets. I appreciate you taking the time to do so.
The Beauty In Strength
I saw in the news yesterday that country duo Rory and Joey are asking for prayers and a miracle after stopping cancer treatment. I didn’t initially know that Joey had cancer. I followed the duo and their music but not on a consistent basis. I particularly liked this duo because they seemed like genuine people with lots of talent and a good sense of common reality. The previously mentioned traits are not beaming from famous people out of Hollywood or Nashville these days. So when you come across these types of people in the entertainment industry, you tend to remember them.
I must admit though, I was a little taken a back by the news. Joey is battling cancer for the second time and her last CT scan in preparation for another round of chemotherapy showed two tumors in areas that have already received extensive radiation and chemo. This means that the tumors have already returned, and more tumors are visible throughout the abdominal region.
Joey’s cancer is spreading aggressively despite treatment. She is currently in stage four cancer and to quote Rory, they have had “enough.” So, they have decided to return home from being on the road and spend the last of their days at home, watching the sun rise and set, being with their special needs daughter Indiana and praying for a miracle. Like Rory said, “they came home not to die, but to live.” Once doctors gave them the time frame that they had left, they realized that they don’t have forever here, but they have right now. I am so inspired buy their strength and especially Joey’s. What a beautiful woman she is.
The more I read several of Rory’s statements from various resources on the matter, the further I realized that this duo has a solid faith in Jesus Christ. My heart smiled for them. Although they and their many fans are heartbroken, they have high hopes and continue to pray for peace with the decision that God makes or allows for their lives.

One verse that particularly came to mind as I read about Joey and her health is Proverbs 31:25.
Do you realize what it takes to have inner strength like Joey’s? I know that she faces the unknown, but she knows the ONE who holds her future and she is ready and willing to accept what He holds for her. Her beauty radiates through the pain and suffering and through the tough decision to come home and live out the last of her days with those who mean the most to her. I admire her strength and dignity. Would you join with me in praying for Joey and Rory, their daughter Indiana and their entire family?
Praying for a Miracle,
