Welcome! Each day during the month of October I am writing on the topic of discovering true beauty. Please join in with me on this journey. Also, please feel free to share these posts during the month of October with family and friends on the many social media outlets. I appreciate you taking the time to do so.
The Gift Wrap & The Jewel
I am one of those people that says nothing happens by chance. I just can’t believe in the ideology of chance. I do however believe in Divine Intervention. Too many times God has personally intervened in my life and clearly I could see Him at work on my behalf. Today’s writing topic regarding beauty is a Divine Intervention kind of writing day.
A friend of mine tagged me and posted the following video for me to see. Upon reviewing the video, getting choked up and re-watching it several times, I finally understood that it was meant for me to add to my topic for today’s #write31days challenge. The video just fit so perfectly. Take a moment to watch the video before continuing to read.
Getting older is hard to do. We can’t depend so much on our looks like we once naively did as a child, in our teenage years or in our young adult years. Like Wanda shares in her poem, looking at “the gift wrap instead of the jewel inside” will only lead to disappointment. We must always remember that…..
Once our personality and inward beauty is developed, we feel free to truly be the person God designed us to be. We no longer have to focus on the gift wrap but are free to see the jewel shining within.
We continue to care for the jewel (our inward self) throughout our lifetime by making an effort to be “kinder, wiser, gentler, more content and more devout.”
Notice that Wanda nor I said to completely forget about the gift wrap. It is important to take care of ourselves. We are in charge of doing our best to be as healthy as we can be, but our outward adorning should never be our focus.
“Someday our soul will be set free, to shine God’s glory throughout all eternity.” Such beautiful words of wisdom regarding beauty from this 92 year old woman. Her jewel is already shining brightly on this side of heaven. I am not sure about you, but I couldn’t help but to get all teary eyed knowing that as I continue to age, I may not want to spend too much time looking at the gift wrap, it’s the jewel inside that matters most. Pretty is in the soul. Personality captures the heart.
