Welcome! Each day during the month of October I am writing on the topic of discovering true beauty. Please join in with me on this journey. Also, please feel free to share these posts during the month of October with family and friends on the many social media outlets. I appreciate you taking the time to do so.
A Crown of Beauty for Ashes
Suffering has been happening since the fall of humanity. Once Eve believed the lie in the garden, sin, suffering, and every other bad thing entered into this world’s existence. Until the Lord returns and takes those who believe in Him home, there will always be sadness and suffering. It is part of living in a broken world.
One may ask, how can beauty come from suffering, sadness, pain etc…..
The answer although all to often overlooked, is the blood of Jesus. Jesus makes all things new. He turns mourning into dancing, sadness into praise, ugliness into beauty and sin into being washed clean. We have hope, even amongst our sadness and suffering, beauty is in the midst. God tells us in Isaiah 61:3 “To all who mourn in Israel he will give: beauty for ashes; joy instead of mourning; praise instead of heaviness. For God has planted them like strong and graceful oaks for his own glory.”
Since we know that the book of Isaiah is a foreshadowing of the coming Messiah (Jesus) and although this particular passage is expressed to the Jews, we believers can also understand and be reassured that Jesus is our “Crown of Beauty.” He takes our brokenness and gives us beauty for ashes. He came and will come back again.
I am finding beauty in unexpected places. This #write31days challenge has me discovering beauty like I have never seen it before. I know that the Lord intended this all along. Just when you believe that you have a firm grip or understanding of something, you soon realize that there is always something new to be learned. The Lord has done this to me. He has me learning and discovering beauty in a whole new way.
I must admit though, beauty for ashes has been one of the hardest topics for me to study and write on. In my humanity, sadness, suffering, and emotional pain are all tender sentiments that I try very hard to stay away from. The truth of the matter is not if I will suffer, but when will I be brought to suffering and sadness? Be encouraged. Knowing that God gives a crown of beauty for ashes, helps me to see beauty in the midst of brokenness. Brokenness is the road to renewal. It is my prayer that you will be inspired and uplifted by these promises from the book of Isaiah. Modern day believers can stand on the promises of Jesus, because He came and will come again.
